Education and Inner City

                Education in American inner cities has been shown to be inferior to the schools in white middle class suburbia. The schools which are located in the inner city are given less attention by political educators due to the fact that the children of these educators do not for the most part attend these inner city schools.

     Many of these officials view these schools as dangerous places for non-minority students. Statistics show that economic funds are not allocated to these schools as they are to other non-inner city schools.

     In the opinion of many current educators both white and minority, this is a major reason for inner city test scores being below average in these schools. Also many times the teachers may be sub-standard or may just be burned out after years of teaching. Money is not necessarily the answer, though it would certainly help. A different attitude must also prevail in order to instigate sufficient change for the betterment of these inner city schools.
