Health issues in America

In my opinion the Affordable Health Care Act of 2010 is a needed program that should have been implemented long ago by some of the previous administrations. The government must step up its efforts to bring health care to the American public because according to statistic many Americans have reached a saturation point of unhealthy practices.
The assigned video was a progressive method of presenting the facts about the current health issues that are affecting the nation. The information that it contains is an eye-opener to anyone who views the video because of the “in your face” method that it gives about the major health problems that are plaguing modern day society, not only in the United States but throughout the globe. Dr. Michael Evans did a superb job in presenting what is needed in order to live a better quality of life. He stated that thirty minutes a day of light physical activity such as walking which even can include your walk in the office parking lot would contribute to this activity. Exercise could also be broken down into three sections of ten minutes each if a person did not have the time for the full thirty minutes. The solutions that Dr. Evans presents are not very difficult to do for the average person and the benefits can be enormous.
The health issues that are affecting the public are diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and rheumatoid arthritis. I also have to agree with the opinions of my fellow bloggers that smaller food portions would greatly help to alleviate some of these health issues. The video gives statements that as little as thirty minutes a day of exercising can prevent these health problems while producing a better quality of life for the person engaging in them.

Phoenix

When you think about year around sunshine, most people think about Phoenix Arizona. Here in phoenix and the surrounding metropolitan areas the sun shines practically every day making it possible for the new technological industries of utilities and power corporations to relocate here to the valley of the sun.
We open our doors to any far thinking utilities corporation that wants to think about the future not only for their corporation but to the communities that they will be servicing. The Arizona sunshine is an unlimited source of power that can be utilized to the convergence to energy in order to power the industries that keep the state and also the country strong and vibrant.
Because of your favored status of a business organization, we here at the City of Phoenix will see to it that your organization receives a quite significant incentive package, such as tax breaks for your business, and prime real estate in which to construct you facilities.
Let’s be honest, we here in Phoenix want your business, because in getting your business the quality of life will improve for the community, the city, and for your organization. We have experts who have already conceived plans and financial information to present to your organization, we await you reply.
I would apply for the Grant since it will allow us to build more places where people would come to.  We could build a shopping mall, entertainment venues and establish Phoenix as the place to go to relax and have fun.

Extra Credit Assignment

The video was an interesting look on the problems a high rail project faces.  The issue is that most people are not too thrilled about using a train for their daily commute.  They would rather use a car for the commute.  The reason being that a car provides them with safety, comfort and personal space.  A train is not too beneficial for the people.  The speaker talks about how Europeans are electing to pay more for riding the car than taking the train.  The video is also raising good points about the money involved in setting up a high speed rail.  It seems like a big gamble if the people do not opt to take the train.  The current highway system is an effective mode of transportation and is comfortable.
From the economists viewpoint, I do not think it would make much sense to fund a high speed rail project.  The costs are too prohibitive and there is no guarantee it will work.  Even if it works, these things require major maintenance funding and a failure could result in people keeping away from them for a while.  I think that is the reason private companies are not investing in these projects.  They realize that gasoline prices need to shoot up a lot more before people start looking into other modes of transportation.
There are not considering the issue of the damage cars cause to the environment.  Cars are the worst polluters and trains are not.  Highways and roads require enormous energy to be paved and maintained.  During rush hour, cars burn fuel without even providing any real value.
I think that cars need to be moved to electric.  This is the future.  Highways need to be expanded to account for more people using them.  Cars like horses provide an individual way of going about and exploring which high speed trains or any other mode of transportation cannot match.
