Health issues in America

In my opinion the Affordable Health Care Act of 2010 is a needed program that should have been implemented long ago by some of the previous administrations. The government must step up its efforts to bring health care to the American public because according to statistic many Americans have reached a saturation point of unhealthy practices.
The assigned video was a progressive method of presenting the facts about the current health issues that are affecting the nation. The information that it contains is an eye-opener to anyone who views the video because of the “in your face” method that it gives about the major health problems that are plaguing modern day society, not only in the United States but throughout the globe. Dr. Michael Evans did a superb job in presenting what is needed in order to live a better quality of life. He stated that thirty minutes a day of light physical activity such as walking which even can include your walk in the office parking lot would contribute to this activity. Exercise could also be broken down into three sections of ten minutes each if a person did not have the time for the full thirty minutes. The solutions that Dr. Evans presents are not very difficult to do for the average person and the benefits can be enormous.
The health issues that are affecting the public are diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and rheumatoid arthritis. I also have to agree with the opinions of my fellow bloggers that smaller food portions would greatly help to alleviate some of these health issues. The video gives statements that as little as thirty minutes a day of exercising can prevent these health problems while producing a better quality of life for the person engaging in them.

  1. I completely agree with you and think that the general public has reached it's point of being unhealthy. Like in the video, I think that workplaces should possibly do what the Japanese did and make their workers commute by foot to work and provide benefits for doing so. I know that this is probably not the best idea for a place like Arizona during the summer, but I think a possible gym or exercise program could be implemented to help show the benefits of exercise to people.
